Founding Designer, Artist,Creative Director, Frances Pomare (Te Rarawa/ Ngati Kahu ) established Wirahiko Studio after 10 years of Freelancing, both nationally and internationally on various residential and commercial design projects, after completing her BA Des in Auckland.

Upon her return home, she identified a need for Maori within the Interior Design space who were able to identify the needs within the home from a Te Ao Maori perspective that addressed how Maori utilise the spaces within the home embracing functionality and whanaungatanga while focusing on quality of life for whanau, exploring the real needs of whanau regardless of budget. Post Covid and amidst the current housing crisis, she saw a need to re focus on how we utilize the home as a living space for well being.

wirahiko is a proud Maori multi-disciplinary design firm that specializes in mid to high end residential properties and businesses. with the skill and expertise that allows her to encompass a start-to-end approach to all projects.

Her commitment to designing spaces for ‘humanity’ drives her need to design meaningful spaces that highlight the impact of good design on the human experience
